  • After the 10:30 Mass, Fr. Zuberbueler and the Nicaragua Mission Group will give a presentation on the status of the Nicaragua Mission, in McClunn Hall. All are welcome to attend.
  •  St. Louis Catholic Church would like to recognize and thank you for your generous support of our Renovation Project. Please join us for a special Mass of Thanksgiving on Saturday March 19, 2016, the Solemnity of St. Joseph 8:45 AM Mass followed by a breakfast reception in McClunn Hall. Reserve to the parish office by Tuesday March 15.
  • This coming Saturday, March 19, there will be a Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Drive at the Beacon Hill Giant on Route 1, to benefit the St Lucy Project. To volunteer, sign up here. For more info, see this page on the parish website or contact Alex at the Parish office.
  • Next weekend – Palm Sunday Weekend — Saturday and Sunday, March 19 th and 20th , St. Louis will conduct its monthly Food Drive to help restock the Food Pantry at United Community Ministries (UCM). See the flyer in the bulletin for additional information about the Food Drive.
  • On Friday March 18, the Stations of the Cross at 2:30 PM are canceled. The 7:00 pm and 7:45 PM Stations continue scheduled as normal.

February 21, 2016

  • The Spring 40 Days for Life campaign has started!  This campaign runs through Palm Sunday (March 20).  So please come and be a witness for life outside the Whiting and Duke Street abortion clinics!  See the 40 Days for Life ad in the bulletin for more information.
  • The 2016 Lenten Soup is every Friday during Lent. Attendees are asked to make a contribution to be given to a charity chosen by the host group, this way Parishioners can perform a work of mercy. The soup on Friday Feb. 26 will be hosted by the School Teachers & Staff and donations will fund the Prayers and Squares ministry. Join them at 6:15 in the School Cafeteria.
  • The Stations of the Cross will follow the Lenten soup, in the Church, at 7pm in English and at 7:45 in Spanish.
  • Next Saturday, Feb. 27 at 11 am. There will be an open forum to discuss the purchase of new hymnals for our church. If you would like to share your thoughts on new hymnals, please contact our music director, Jason Phillips for more details. His phone number and email are listed in the church bulletin.
  • The evening of Thursday, March 3rd through 4PM Saturday, March 4th, will be our 3rd annual 40 Hours Devotion. This year’s 40 hours will include, from 4PM Friday, March 4th until 4PM Saturday, the “24 Hours for the Lord” that Pope Francis has asked the churches of the World to participate in for the Year of Mercy. Please set aside some time that weekend, and listen for announcements of special events occurring during that time.

  • Mark your calendars for a special and spiritually fruitful event—our Parish Mission Retreat will be on Saturday February 20 through Wednesday February 24. Watch the bulletin for schedule information. We are blessed to have Fr. Herald Brock of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal to lead the retreat.
  • Lenten Soup Suppers will be offered every Friday in Lent from the Friday after Ash Wednesday, February 12, until the Friday before Palm Sunday, March 18, 2016.
  • Mass Service for Healing for Victims & Survivors of Sexual Abuse. In 2005, the Diocese of Arlington began a series of Mass Services for victim/survivors of sexual abuse celebrated by Bishop Paul Loverde. The Mass service will focus on praying for those persons who are survivors of sexual abuse. There will be a light reception following the Mass. The next Mass healing will be on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 7:30pm at Church of the Nativity 6400 Nativity Lane, Burke, Virginia 22015.
  • All women of the parish are invited to attend a Lenten Morning of Recollection hosted by the St. Louis Council of Catholic Women next Saturday, February 13th. Our guest speaker will be Fr. Dort who will provide inspiration to assist us as we begin our Lenten journey. See the flyer in this week’s bulletin for more details.

  • Next Sunday, February 7, St Louis Youth Ministry will host a Soup-er bowl party. Please bring a canned food item to any Mass next weekend to support the St Lucy Project. And High School and Middle School students are invited to bring their families to a Super Bowl Watch Party in McClunn Hall. See the bulletin for more details.
  • As lent approaches, please bring your palm branches from last year to the vestibule or to the parish office before or by February 7.

  • St. Louis Catholic School Open House – Sunday, Jan. 31, 10am-1pm & Tuesday, Feb. 2, 9am-12pm.
  • St. Louis Preschool registration for the 2016-2017 school year begins in February on the following dates at 7:30 am each day:
    • Feb 9th for current St. Louis Elementary families
    • Feb 10th for St. Louis parishioners
    • Feb 11th for the community-at-large
  • Be an active witness for life! Join your fellow parishioners on Friday, January 22 for the National March for Life. To sign up for bus transportation, simply call the rectory or follow the online sign up directions detailed in the bulletin. Buses will depart from the rectory at 10:45 a.m. and return after 4 p.m.
  • The bereavement committee calls all its members to prepare to fully resume activities for funeral receptions. Having completed its renovation St. Louis is now able to host funeral receptions at Walsh Hall; so much help will be needed.
  • This month many of us will receive a mailing from Bishop Loverde regarding the 2016 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA). The theme for the 2016 BLA is “Go forth as heralds of God’s mercy.” After reflecting upon the many blessings that God has given you, please prayerfully consider making a pledge of support to this important appeal that funds many programs and ministries that serve the people in our diocese. Every pledge is an expression of God’s love and mercy!
  • Please join us for a special holy hour after the 5:30 Mass this Saturday Jan. 23.
  • The adoration Chapel will reopen Tuesday January 19 at 7 am.
